Mommy Makeover

After pregnancy and breastfeeding, many women find that their bodies look very different. As thrilled as they are with their children, these mothers are often not so thrilled with the stubborn fat, skin laxity, cellulite, stretch marks, and sagging breasts that remain. Dr. Gordon Lewis, a top plastic surgeon in the Richmond area, offers Mommy Makeover surgery to help restore the breasts and body to their pre-pregnancy appearance.

Who Is a Candidate for Mommy Makeover?

If you are in good general health and are dissatisfied with the after-effects of pregnancy and breastfeeding, you may be a good candidate for a Mommy Makeover.

If you plan on having more children, however, you should wait to have procedures such as a breast lift, liposuction, and a tummy tuck. Further pregnancies could reverse some of the results of these surgeries.

What Is a Mommy Makeover?

A Mommy Makeover with Dr. Lewis is a customized series of procedures that target the specific areas of concern of each individual patient. Some surgeries can be performed concurrently, such as liposuction and a tummy tuck. Others must be done separately, allowing your body time to recuperate in between the procedures.

Cost in Richmond

The price for a Mommy Makeover varies with the combination of procedures performed and patient needs. During your initial consultation, we will give you a breakdown of all costs related to your Mommy Makeover procedure. This will include:

  • Dr. Lewis’s fee
  • Operating room fee
  • Anesthesia fee
  • Cost of any additional overnight stays (overnight stays are not usually required after liposuction)

We make absolutely sure that there are no hidden costs and no surprises.

Typical Mommy Makeovers Include:

Liposuction – This surgical procedure suctions excess localized fat from areas of the body that do not respond to diet and exercise.

Tummy Tuck – A tummy tuck or abdominoplasty removes excess skin and fat from the abdomen to firm and tone this area when it does not reduce from diet and exercise efforts.

Breast Lift – When the breasts sag after pregnancy and breastfeeding, a breast lift can raise them to a perkier position.

Breast Augmentation – Some women find that their breasts have deflated after breastfeeding, or they simply want to increase the size of their breasts as part of their makeover. Breast augmentation can be performed separately from or in conjunction with a breast lift.

Brazilian Butt Lift – In this surgery, donor fat is removed from areas with excess, such as the abdomen, hips, thighs, and back. That fat is then injected into the buttocks for a rounder contour.

What is involved in a Mommy Makeover?

Dr. Lewis is one of the best Mommy Makeover surgeons in Richmond, and he customizes every procedure based on your anatomy, condition, and goals for your appearance. He uses the latest methods for breast surgeries and body contouring procedures.

Will anesthesia and pain relief be used during/after surgery?

We will make sure you are comfortable throughout every procedure. For most surgeries, you can be given a local anesthetic and IV sedation for what is called “twilight sleep.” This is lighter anesthesia than a full general anesthetic, but you will be very relaxed and will not feel any pain.

In some cases, however, general anesthesia may be recommended.

What happens immediately after surgery?

Immediately after your surgery, we will monitor you before you leave the office to make sure you are feeling well and ready to go home. We will provide you with full instructions for after-care for the particular procedure you have had done, as well as a schedule of follow-up appointments so that Dr. Lewis can monitor your healing process.

After even local anesthesia, you will need someone to drive you home.

How long will complete recovery from a Mommy Makeover take?

Since a Mommy Makeover involves several procedures, each surgery will have its own recovery period. Visit the individual pages for the surgeries that interest you for more information about recovery.

If more than one procedure can be performed simultaneously, Dr. Lewis will let you know what you can expect during your recovery period and how much time you will need to take off from work.

What are the risks of a Mommy Makeover?

Check Accreditation

With any surgical procedure, there are risks that you must be aware of. To minimize the risks, ensure that your surgeries are conducted in a safe and secure environment using the latest surgical techniques by checking the certifications and accreditation of your surgeon. Accreditation boards and bodies are there to protect you.
