What is a Thigh Lift?
A thigh lift removes excess fat and sagging skin from the thighs. This procedure can completely reshape your thigh area making your legs look younger and rejuvenated. Liposuction is often used during the lift to remove excess fat and to refine and reshape both the inner and outer thigh. This surgery is a great choice for reducing cellulite and firming up the thighs. In some cases it can even reduce the appearance of stretch marks.
Am I a Good Candidate for a Thigh Lift?
A thigh lift might be the right procedure for you if you have excess skin and fat on the thighs, but are otherwise close to your ideal weight. This isn’t a weight loss procedure, rather a way to reshape and refine your body.
What Happens During Surgery?
During surgery Dr. Lewis typically makes incisions in the groin area (so they can be hidden under bathing suits) and carefully tightens loose skin on the thighs. In some cases vertical incisions may also be needed. Liposuction is often used to remove excess fat and to help with contouring and shaping. Dr. Lewis will work closely with you to determine the best techniques for achieving your goals based on your anatomy, your health, and your objectives.
We use local anesthetic and IV sedation throughout the procedure to ensure your comfort. This is a lighter anesthesia than general anesthesia, but still highly effective. You won’t be able to feel any pain and will be very relaxed (some refer to it as “twilight sleep”). After the surgery is finished your incisions will be dressed and a compression garment may be placed over the area to reduce swelling. You can go home the same day, but you will need someone to drive you.
What’s Recovery Like After a Thigh Lift?
After a thigh lift you can expect some bruising, soreness, and swelling. Most patients take 2-3 weeks off of work to recover. You’ll need to avoid strenuous activities and exercise during the first weeks of your recovery. It often takes a few weeks for the swelling to completely resolve.
